This is the final post of the IndiesReadIt Development Diary. I'll talk about the launch on ProductHunt and share some stats. And I'll thank everyone who helped me during this journey.
This week, IndiesReadIt focused on marketing efforts, adding books from X authors for traction. The launch proceeded on Reddit, garnering engagement across relevant subreddits, including /indiehackers, /SideProject, and /InternetIsBeautiful. Despite advice to delay, the launch emphasized commitment to the plan.
This week for IndiesReadIt focused on refining the website for an upcoming ProductHunt launch. Key highlights include optimizing for Amazon Affiliates, adding terms and privacy pages, and streamlining search functionalities. The useBooks hook underwent significant improvements, enhancing readability. Visual enhancements and strategic considerations for marketing rounded out the week.
IndiesReadIt saw significant improvements this week, including enhanced Favorites and a new book rating feature. Refactoring efforts streamlined code for better maintainability, while user interaction was boosted with toast feedback and improved UI. Overall, the focus on functionality and user feedback shaped a polished IndiesReadIt experience.
From Christmas to early January, I oscillated between enhancing my coding project, focusing on user-friendly tweaks, responsive designs, and improving admin interface. I resolved a Zod issue, streamlined the book submission process, and integrated PostHog analytics, all while juggling other life responsibilities.
For Weeks 3, key highlights include significant UI enhancements, the acquisition of the domain IndiesRead.it and the launch of the majorleaguebaguette.com blog. I tackled challenges such as session handling, refined user interactions, and implemented admin features.
In the second week of building IndiesReadIt, the focus shifted from card development challenges, category setup, and app development hurdles to personal moments like preparing for a daughter's dance show and crafting the blog's introduction.
Week 1 of IndiesReadIt development marks the journey from concept to tangible progress. Key highlights include strategic planning, efficient database foundation, decisive setup choices, and rapid development strides. Stay tuned for more updates on this collaborative book directory for indies.
